Cleaning with a BC...

Its been puzzling me lately as to how my house gets cluttered so quickly, despite my best (well, almost best) efforts to keep it clean. Today, the mystery was blown wide open. I put everything in its proper place, washed every item of dog bedding, vacuumed, mopped, and settled on the couch with a coffee and a sense of satisfaction.

Not 10 minutes later, I noticed my uni bag, shoes, dog leash, a stuffed toy and a textbook had been placed at my feet. Turning around I saw a smiling border collie proudly wagging her tail wondering what other presents she could bring me.

With Spice's help, this year my grades, fitness and back-yard fun should be on the up and up - and with the cavaliers' help, afternoon naps on the couch should remain a comfortable necessity.

Holiday!

Well... sort of. This week the three terrors and I are housesitting in Berry. Of course I'd quite happily be overseas lying on a beach instead, but being surrounded by 8 cavaliers, a border collie, and 3 horses out the back is a pretty good holiday to me.

Spice is in her element, teaching the two puppies Amy and Peggy all sorts of evil things to do. She's also quite a fan of the horses in the back paddock and would LOVE to get in with them. Muffin and Oscar fit in perfectly with the other 6 cavaliers, snoozing on the couch just as they do at home. The only concern is that Muffin and Cleo might get their heads together and plot what they can get up to on the agility course next.

Speaking of agility, my dogs all had a wonderful time at the cavalier trial. Muffin was her typical self, though to give credit did very well considering her recent back injury. Spice had the time of her life with little Ricky, playing in tunnels and getting beaten up by a dog half her size, and Oscar gave me the best run he's done in a lone time, and got 1st place in ADX.

Well, despite 8 cavaliers snoring on the couch, Spice is trying to tell me something... she has so far dropped a tennis ball, a tug toy and two squeakies at my feet - I think I get the message!

For everything else, there's mastercard...

Who would have thought one small puppy could have such an impact on life?

6 weeks ago Spice the border collie rocketed into my home. Gone are the days when the two cavaliers could sleep peacefully, uni assignments remained safe from teeth, and I could sleep past 6AM.

Everything I can think of to teach her, she can learn. Unfortunately, if I dont think of something new everyday, Spice creates her own new tricks. So far she has discovered the perfect way of leaping out of the puppy pen, how to dig to china, and that tea-bags make lovely chew-toys when the mid-morning craving hits.

Would I change anything? Never.

New lino - $100
New christmas lights - $50
The joy of having 3 wonderful dogs fill my life - priceless.
